WCNC (IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference) is one of the world's foremost international technical conferences for engineers and researchers at the forefront of development and deployment of wireless technologies. Co-located with CTIA WIRELESS 2004, the annual IEEE Wireless Communication and Networking Conference (WCNC 2004), sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society, offers the best tutorial, research, and industry-oriented technical content on terrestrial wireless communication in all its forms; featuring technical paper presentations, business application/panel sessions and tutorials. Highlights of the 2004 conference includes: a joint WCNC/CTIA Session on the Global Evolution of Wireless Networking and a Keynote Presentations by Alan Harper, Group Strategy Director, Vodafone Group Plc, UK, and David Hagan, President and Chief Operating Officer, Boingo Wireless Inc. As multimedia-oriented 3G cellular mobile, very high speed WLAN (wireless LAN), and new fixed wireless systems are being introduced, the focus of this conference is broadband wireless communication technologies, systems and services. Theory and practice are inseparable as researchers and developers evolve ways to use spectrum more efficiently, interoperate different air interfaces and networking systems, utilize both infrastructure and ad-hoc networking techniques, support multimedia QoS (quality of service), and exploit the newest coding, detection, and bandwidth-spreading technologies. Technical papers will be presented from the following topical areas:
